SPSCC today announced that its 55th commencement ceremony will celebrated virtually this June. Nearly 1,500 graduates will be honored at the virtual event, as well as on a special new graduation website.

“This was not an easy decision to make,” said SPSCC president Dr. Timothy Stokes. “We know this isn’t the ceremony we all expected, but we’re extremely proud of our graduates for completing their degree during this challenging time. They deserve tremendous recognition.”

The virtual ceremony will maintain several aspects of a traditional commencement, including an address from the president and faculty members, but will also celebrate in new ways, such as displaying a virtual diploma for each graduate while their names are read aloud.

As these details and more are finalized, we will share updates on our social media sites and the commencement webpage.

To graduates, Dr. Stokes said, “You amaze and impress me every single day. We are the Clippers. We will brave these rough seas together and find safe harbor. We are honored to be your school and we will do our best to find memorable ways to celebrate you and your incredible achievements.”

Graduates, friends, and family can help share the success of SPSCC’s class of 2020 on social media with hashtag #spscc.
