Angie Evans was at a Yelm Chamber of Commerce meeting when one of the chamber members made a comment,  “I’ve lived here for so long, but I’ve never been in the Prairie Park Hotel.”

As the hotel’s General Manager, Evans couldn’t let that stand. “You’ve got to come and see it,” she told the woman. On March 28, Yelm residents will have an opportunity to do just that. The hotel is hosting the March Drive 507 Business After Hours event and all are welcome. “So many people who live in Yelm but haven’t had an occasion to need a hotel don’t realize what a jewel we are,” says Evans. “This is a moment to come and see what we’re all about.”

In keeping with its name, the event will kick off at 5:07 p.m., with guests receiving a goodie bag when they walk through the door. The first stop is the new lobby on the first floor, where beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served along with signature cocktails from the Uptown Lounge and popcorn from Yelm Cinemas. All three businesses are part of Prairie Park LLC and frequently collaborate on special events.

To fill their bags with swag, says Evans, attendees will need to visit display rooms on other floors, including a king room, a double queen room and a suite. “We’re going to spotlight the different types of rooms we offer,” she explains. Suites are mini homes away from home, with living rooms, dining tables, kitchenettes, jetted tubs and even decks. While most Yelm residents only see the hotel when friends or family are visiting, some enjoy it themselves when they want an evening out or a date night, says Evans.

Drive 507 events happen monthly at different Yelm businesses and are named after Highway 507, the route that connects Yelm to Rainier. Guests don’t have to be chamber members to attend, Evans emphasizes. “I’m inviting all of my vendors and my friends,” she says. “I’m super excited for everyone to come and see the beautiful new lobby, relax, and have fun.”
