Uh oh! Valentine’s Day is only days away and you still don’t have a gift for that special someone in your life, be it a loved one, child or friend. You could easily pick up a gift card like every year – or you could find something that is especially unique and fun while supporting local business!

We spent sometime in Downtown Olympia exploring local businesses to put together a list for you to help find a special gift that is sure to bring warm hearts and big grins without breaking the bank.

1. Find cute chocolate, classy soap and more at The Popinjay

A trip to The Popinjay wouldn’t be complete without a stop at their famous chocolate and candy counter. Put together an assortment of chocolates (including some adorable seasonally appropriate treats) or grab one of their pre-assembled candy gift bags for the sweet tooth in your life.

Another perfect gift for anyone, this activated charcoal goat milk shampoo bar is selling quickly as word gets out about its effectiveness. Popinjay owner Janis Dean swears by it for itchy or sensitive skin after her husband and coworkers all began using it with high satisfaction.

2. Give the gift of relaxation at Radiance Herbs and Massage

If your Valentine has been feeling extra stressed lately, look no further than Radiance Herbs and Massage. You can use this romantic mineral bath as a romantic getaway for one or both of you. This product would also make a great gift to yourself for a #TreatYourself Valentine’s Day present this year.

If you’re looking to spend a little more on a present, then you will definitely want to consider purchasing your Valentine a Wild Rose essential oil massage for the ultimate relaxation gift this season.

3. Make this V-Day quirky and silly with Archibald Sisters

Whether you’re shopping for a friend or wanting something creative for your partner, Archibald Sisters is your go-to spot for everything nostalgic and drenched in pop culture. The perfect comedic gift would be these “growable” girlfriend/boyfriend figurines – a sure-fire way to spend the holiday with a companion.

If you want something intimate, you could also go with Archibald’s iconic individually designed fragrance products. With most of the products and sizes costing under $20, you can design a lotion or perfume that will be made from the heart and great for the nose.

4. Stop by Captain Little for children and the young-at-heart

Captain Little is full of toys, crafts and other knacks of imagination. A sentimental gift that can be great for a parent/child activity is the book, This is Not a Valentine. A cute storyline and beautiful illustrations make this a perfect seasonal gift that will please the adorable book-worm in your life.

Another seasonal option would be these Sonny Angel figurines. Many kiddos love collecting sets of these adorable miniature dolls and part of the fun is that you don’t know which figurine you get until you open it.

5. Go vintage for Valentine’s at Psychic Sister

If there is someone in your life who loves the unique culture of Olympia, you’ll want to stop by Psychic Sister. Perfect for V-Day are these heart glasses. They can be bought in multiple colors and might make a great gift alongside a gift certificate for a reading with one of the in-house psychics.

For a more flirty gift, consider buying a Hotcakes naughty deck of cards. Playing strip poker on Valentine’s just got a little more steamy with this gift (you’ll want to make sure the kids are tucked away first though).

6. Creatively give “roses” at Compass Rose

Roses are often associated with Valentine’s Day, but instead of flowers this year, consider giving your Valentine this rose-hibiscus coconut water hydrating face mist from Compass Rose. You’ll get the iconic scent of roses inside a personal beauty product that can help with dry skin, especially during the colder winter months.

Another rose-themed gift you can give is this Vanilla Rose flavored tea for a delightful morning or afternoon treat. For a few more bucks, grab this “Heart of Gold” mug and your Valentine will be able to taste and feel the love throughout the year.
