Local Boy Scouts will provide curbside pick-up of holiday trees on Saturday, January 7, for residents of Lacey. Trees must have all decorations removed and be placed curbside in front of homes by 8:00 a.m. Apartment residents should check with managers for locations to place their trees.

Boy Scouts, with the support of Lemay/Pacific Disposal, Asphundh Tree Service, and Thurston County Solid Waste, will deliver the trees to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center for recycling. Trees that have ornaments, tinsel, or stands will not be accepted as they cannot be recycled.

This service is available only to residents of Lacey. If you live outside of Lacey city limits, trees can be taken to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center at 2420 Hogum Bay Road NE in Lacey, through January 14 for no charge. Subscribers to Pacific Disposal’s yard debris pick up service should cut their tree into 3-foot sections and place it in or next to yard waste containers on their normal collection day.

The Boy Scouts will be accepting donations for their service. Donations can be made online at www.bit.ly/TreeRU or can be mailed, with checks made payable to ‘BSA Troop 222’ and mailed to Troop 222 Tree Round Up, PO Box 5379, Lacey, WA 98509.  Participating Boy Scouts include Troops 101, 222, and 266.
