Groups of women are expected to flock to South Puget Sound Community College on Saturday October 10, 2015 for South Sound Women’s Day (SSWD), presented by South Sound Women’s Events Inc. (SSWE), a local non-profit whose mission is to encourage leadership through personal, professional and community growth and education opportunities for women of the South Sound.  This year SSWE is collaborating with the YWCA of Olympia, a non-profit-organization working to eliminate racial and gender inequity and advance the social and economic status of all women in the South Sound since 1945. SSWE Board President, Elyse Harrington says “The day has really become more than we ever dreamed it could be. We want every woman in the South Sound, whether they are 18 or 80 to be able to experience this.”

With several local speakers presenting on everything from negotiating the salary you deserve, conquering the room and building self-confidence, social media marketing for your business and an interactive cooking demonstration to Zen-doodling, home maintenance tips and connecting in your community, South Sound Women’s Day offers something of interest for every woman.

The day will feature inspirational keynote speaker, Marilyn McKenna who will be sharing her vision to living authentically, by no one’s rules but your own. There will be several local exhibitors, a buffet lunch catered by Elyse’s Catering, two breakout sessions and a wine and cheese networking session at the end of the day.

Keynote Speaker Marilyn McKenna’s story is one of realizing her own potential, but it’s also very much about how to find your own. She aspires to help SSWD attendees unleash their own hidden potential so that they can become a fierce agent for change within their own life and redirect the trajectory of their family’s health and wellness.  There’s an authentic self (or “inner badass” as Marilyn puts it) inside each of us, and unleashing it is the secret to achieving a healthy mind and body. No matter what life challenges SSWD attendees face, it’s never too late – or too soon! – To be your very best self!

South Sound Women’s Events, in collaboration with the YWCA of Olympia, is proud to present South Sound Women’s Day and will be gladly accepting donations of hygiene products (feminine hygiene pads, toilet paper, dish soap, diapers) – for the YWCA’s Other Bank. The Other Bank supports health and human dignity through hygiene, while offering a gender-responsive job training opportunity for participants in the agency’s Women’s Economic Empowerment Program. Purchases of a Table Host package for South Sound Women’s Day will allow several YWCA Women’s Economic Empowerment graduates to attend this inspirational event. Please visit www.southsoundwomensevents.org about serving as a Table Host.
