This year’s Lacey Spring Fun Fair will take place May 16 and 17.  We are currently looking for talented groups and individuals to participate in our “All Star” Talent Show on May 17 at 2 p.m.  This is your chance to show off your best, quirkiest, humorous, or most creative talent. “The highlight for us is being able to perform so people can have a better understanding of twirling.  The audience at the Fun Fair is usually very appreciative of the sport,” explains Judy Welsheimer, coach of Fantasia Twirling Corps. Over the past few years we have had Hip Hop dancers, Irish dancers, singers, baton twirlers, solo acts, duos, and groups of all sizes.

Thanks to a generous donation by WSECU we are able to offer the winners $150 plus an additional $200 to donate to their favorite charity. Last year’s Best Individual Performer, Peyton Daugherty, decided to give her donation to World Vision. “I chose to donate my prize to World Vision, because my family supports a child in Bolivia through the same organization. I see pictures of kids without things that they need, like food and water, and I wanted to help give those kids what they needed.”  In addition to that, the other 2014 charities included Boys & Girls Club of Thurston County, Toys for Tots, and YMCA Strong Kids.  We are looking forward to seeing who the lucky recipients will be this year!

Each year we get more and more contestants but we are only able to accept 15 acts so make sure to send us the best video sample of you and/or your groups.  If you don’t have a video, don’t worry you will not be excluded, just send us a great description of what special talent you will be showing off for the Talent Show. Applications are due no later than Friday, April 24.

The competition gets better every year so start practicing now and join us at 2 p.m. on May 17 for the Lacey Spring Fun Fair “All Star” Talent Show!  If you don’t want to participate, join us anyway and support all of the talented individuals who will be competing.  When asked about their favorite part of the Lacey Spring Fun Fair, Patti Martig of the Slieveloughane Irish Dancers replied, “The fun, family atmosphere and performing each year. It is one of our favorite shows.” Check out some of last year’s amazing talent here.
