Closet clutter can turn into cash for Community Youth Services during the month of July, when Value Village partners with the local non-profit. Value Village will make a 20 cent contribution for every pound of gently used clothing, household linens and accessories donated with a label reading “CYS.”
CYS hopes to raise $5,000 from the effort, which means it needs to bring in 25,000 pounds of items. The funds will toward helping CYS youth with back-to-school needs, including supplies, shoes and backpacks.
“This is a great WIN-WIN strategy,” said CYS Development Director Lynsi Polanco. “Our supporters win with clean closets, we win with being able to help more youth have a great transition back to school!”
Bagged or boxed items, marked CYS, can be brought to the store, 604 Sleater Kinney Road, Lacey, OR to the non-profit, 711 State Avenue NE, Olympia, anytime during the month of July.
At a special sidewalk event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, CYS representatives will be at the store to accept donations and share information about the agency, which serves more than 4,000 youth and families in South Sound annually.
