Local Subway restaurants are giving back to organizations that give most all year long by donating 1,850 sandwiches as part of their “12 Hours of Giving” program from December 12-24. On Tuesday, December 18, the staff and volunteers at the South Sound YMCA downtown Olympia branch were treated to a luncheon catered by Subway restaurants franchisee, Christian Fast.
“We wanted to give back to the South Sound YMCA and other organizations because they have such an outstanding commitment to our community,” said Fast. “This was our way of saying thanks for making our community great.”
The largest delivery will go to Northwest Harvest, a nonprofit in downtown Seattle that provides nutritious food to hungry people statewide. They will receive 1,000 sandwiches during the morning on Christmas Eve (Monday, December 24) from Russell Hollek, local Subway restaurants franchisee. Additional organizations that received sandwiches as part of the “12 Hours of Giving” program included Seattle Urban Academy, Foster Child Holiday Magic, Friendship House, FareStart, Salvation Army Problem Solvers Toy Drive, Tacoma Rescue Mission, and HopeLink.
