OLYMPIA, Wash. – This Veterans Day, Washington’s Lottery and the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) will officially launch the second annual Veterans Raffle to support veterans across the state. The $10 raffle ticket gives players the best chance to win $1 million among all current Washington’s Lottery games. Every ticket sold benefits the WDVA’s Veterans Innovations Program (VIP) which provides crisis and emergency relief, as well as education, training, and employment assistance for Washington veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

In addition to the top prize of $1 million, there will be drawings for 30 $1,000 prizes and 100, $100 prizes.  Tickets will go on sale this Sunday, November 11 and will be sold through January 1, 2013.  The drawings for all 131 prizes will be held on January 2, 2013. There are a limited number of tickets available – and the best odds of winning a $1 million right now– so players need to purchase tickets now before they’re gone!

“Washington’s Lottery is proud to partner with the WDVA on this program to support the men and women who have courageously defended our freedoms at home and abroad,” said Bill Hanson, director of Washington’s Lottery. “We’re excited to offer players this chance at winning $1 million, while supporting the VIP which supports the brave men and women across our state who have fought overseas.”

Last year’s Raffle raised more than $247,000 to keep the VIP program funded and help provide critical support for veterans and their families across the state.  Washington’s Lottery will continue to support the VIP and the dedicated veterans returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other posts around the world with the annual Veteran’s Raffle.

“Since the VIP was started in 2006 we have helped more than 1,000 returning veterans with education, training, housing and other support to help them get back on their feet after long, difficult deployments,” said WDVA Director John Lee. “Through the Veterans Raffle, Washingtonians are helping provide important support to these critical programs that aid veterans and their families across Washington State.”
