It’s not just the hormones and the physical changes of the middle school years that are a challenge. The brain is making significant changes, establishing habits and connections during that time as well. Adolescents are trying to define themselves separate from their family and shift from a family centered orientation to a peer orientation. No wonder it can be hard for parents and kids to navigate the middle school years.
