Mason Health, in partnership with CHOICE Regional Health Network, will host a pop-up open enrollment event for people interested in signing up for a health insurance plan through Washington Healthplanfinder. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, in the parking lot of Mason General Hospital on the Emergency Department side. The pop-up tent will have safety measures in place, including required masking and social distancing, so that clients can meet with patient navigators safely.

“We are excited to offer this safe opportunity for our patients and community members to learn about their health insurance options,” said Mason Health Patient Financial Advocate Alex Schiffman. “CHOICE Regional Health Network has been a fantastic partner in this endeavor and we are looking forward to sharing what people can expect from the health care exchange this year.”

Open enrollment for Washington Healthplanfinder is happening now through Dec. 15, for coverage starting Jan. 1. Those who enroll between Dec. 16 and Jan. 15 will have coverage starting Feb. 1. Washington Healthplanfinder is an online marketplace to compare and enroll in health insurance coverage and gain access to programs such as Washington Apple Health (Medicaid). Enrollment is offered year-round to individuals and families eligible for Apple Health.

New this year, many insurance providers will be offering Cascare Care plans, which expand access, choice and value for Washingtonians at a time when they need it most. These plans offer deductibles that are on average $1,000 less than other plans, and cover more services prior to meeting a deductible, including primary care visits, mental health services and generic drugs. Look for the Cascade Care stamp on select Healthplanfinder plans.

“This year is there are more ways to live well and stay well during this uncertain time,” said Michael Marchand, Chief Marketing Officer for the Washington Healthplanfinder. “Washingtonians are concerned about their health, safety, and well-being. Our new Cascade Care plans give customers an opportunity to find and enroll in a product that can meet their needs.”

In Mason County, the following health insurance plans are on Washington Healthplanfinder: Coordinated Care, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington, Lifewise Healthplan of Washington, Molina Healthcare and Regence Blueshield.
