Port of Olympia is proud to announce that Jeff Smith, CPA, Finance Director and Auditor, has been named a finalist for the 2016 South Sound Financial Executives of the Year in the government/quasi-government category.
The program honors the best senior-level financial officers in three categories: businesses, non-profit organizations and government/quasi-government. Nominees must be the top financial executive of their organization or divisional office. Employers must be located in South King County/Kent through Pierce, Thurston and Mason counties. Nominations were accepted from employers and from persons and entities having relevant knowledge.
“This is a well deserved recognition of Jeff Smith, one of the port industry’s most renowned and valued finance directors,” commented Ed Galligan, Port of Olympia Executive Director. “We are very fortunate to have Jeff’s extraordinary leadership, talent and friendship at our port.”
A panel of university faculty members in relevant disciplines and past Financial Executives of the Year winners will consider the nominees and select the top winner of each category. Selection criteria include outstanding fiscal leadership and asset management.
The nominees will be honored and the top award winners announced at a luncheon program on Tuesday, March 22, at Pacific Grill Events Center in Tacoma.
Financial Executives of the Year is a program produced by Business Examiner Media, with sponsorship provided by Heritage Bank and Moss Adams. As reported on the Business Examiner website: “In today’s transforming economy, recommendations from chief financial executives are critical to business strategy, growth and success of any organization. . . Behind every successful business or other organization is a financial executive who helped the company get there.”
