YWCA of Olympia Seeks Participants for Summer Girls Institute for Greatness

The YWCA of Olympia is recruiting participants for its Summer GIG (Girls Institute for Greatness) program, which starts July 7. Summer GIG is open to young women ages 16-28.

The program focuses on:

  • hands-on job training (retail and distribution management, customer service, business)
  • financial literacy (budgeting, personal financial planning, credit recovery)
  • “soft” skills (confidence, communication, dependable strengths, entrepreneurial mindset)
  • technology skills (QuickBooks, Excel, Word)

Participants who successfully complete Summer GIG are eligible to receive a stipend as well as a professional reference and letter of recommendation for future employers. Summer GIG runs July 7-August 27 at the YWCA of Olympia, 220 Union Ave. SE in Olympia. Program activities and training run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
