The YWCA of Olympia is recruiting participants for its Summer GIG (Girls Institute for Greatness) program, which starts July 7. Summer GIG is open to young women ages 16-28.
The program focuses on:
- hands-on job training (retail and distribution management, customer service, business)
- financial literacy (budgeting, personal financial planning, credit recovery)
- “soft” skills (confidence, communication, dependable strengths, entrepreneurial mindset)
- technology skills (QuickBooks, Excel, Word)
Participants who successfully complete Summer GIG are eligible to receive a stipend as well as a professional reference and letter of recommendation for future employers. Summer GIG runs July 7-August 27 at the YWCA of Olympia, 220 Union Ave. SE in Olympia. Program activities and training run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
