With New Years arriving mid-week this year, it’s hard to plan a proper celebration. One easy way to ring in 2015 properly (and still keep your weekend free) is with a dynamite dinner at the Lucky Dog Casino.
Located in nearby Skokomish, the Lucky Dog’s celebrated NorthFork Grill always delivers an amazing array of dining options and New Year’s Eve promises to wow the senses. With dinner seatings starting at 4:00 p.m., their $29.99 feast includes salad, steak, seafood, sides, and dessert. Indulge; your resolutions can start later.
Food and Beverage Director Maxx Hawes explains that the NorthFork Grill strives to showcase fresh and local meats, produce, liquor, wine, and beer. Their goal is to highlight producers up and down the I-5 corridor, and make as much product in-house as possible. One example of this commitment to excellence is their home-made fish and chips. The fresh fish is cut, breaded, and fried on site and can be accompanied by a cup of their award-winning clam chowder.
Hawes and Executive Chef Karen Lewis aim to make at least 90% of the restaurant’s menu in-house, and this leads to some amazingly creative pairings. A current favorite is the pulled pork macaroni and cheese featuring the flavors of sharp white cheddar and smoky chipotle pulled pork.
A graduate of the South Puget Sound Community College’s Culinary Arts Program, Chef Lewis has competed in such regional cooking competitions as Oysterfest, where she was the overall winner in six of her 12 appearances. Her Crab Cannelloni recipe was even featured in a local segment of the TV show ‘Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives’ on the Food Network.
The food service staff of 40 “all do a wonderful job,” says Hawes, earning them the #3 steak in Mason County amongst other regional awards and prizes.
You can enjoy this experience at the NorthFork Grill’s New Year’s Eve Dinner, with available times from 4:00 – 8:15 p.m. on December 31. While reservations aren’t required, they’re strongly suggested as slots are filling up fast. After eating, at 9:00 p.m. the Casino will transition into fun central with live music, a dance floor, and so much more.
But why wait until after dinner to have some fun? Check out their Noon Year’s Eve celebrations that start at 9:00 a.m. and have the chance to win $100 every 10 minutes until 1:15 p.m. There will be party favors and a noon champagne toast so early birds don’t miss out.
New Year’s is the final thrill of the holiday season, before we buckle down for the long, slow slog towards spring. Celebrate while you can in a way that’s close to home and easy on the wallet with the talented chefs and food-service staff at the NorthFork and Lucky Dog Casino.
