Skokomish Indian Tribe Donates over $26,000 to Local Organizations

The Skokomish Indian Tribe of Washington contributed over $26,000 to local organizations at an event held at NorthFork Grill inside the Lucky Dog Casino.

Nine local organizations were invited to a special event honoring their efforts.  The anticipation was palpable as the contribution amounts were not disclosed prior to the official presentation. Skokomish Tribal Council Members Joseph Pavel, vice-chairman, and Alex Gouley, secretary, joined Lucky Dog Casino’s General Manager David Owens to award each organization with a contribution of up to $5,000.

Skokomish Tribal Chairman Guy Miller stated, “Congratulations and thank you to each of organization who works hard to help those around them from children to animals.  I continue to look forward to their positive impact on our community.”

Event host David Owens, General Manager of Lucky Dog Casino, said, “What an amazing event where our business can give back to the community and provide additional resources to these great organizations.”

Organizations receiving contributions include the following:

Skokomish CEO Yvonne Oberly added, “Lucky Dog Casino, a tribal enterprise, is thrilled to support local organizations and the community in which we reside.”

Contributions are focused on four key areas:

  1. Charitable – contributions to non-profit and charitable organizations in the State of Washington
  2. Community – contributions to Tribal government programs which impact the community (law enforcement, education, housing, health)
  3. Problem Gambling – contributions to problem gambling education, awareness and treatment in the State of Washington.
  4. Smoking Cessation and Prevention – contributions to smoking cessation, prevention, education, awareness and treatment in the State of Washington.

The Skokomish Tribal Nation and the State of Washington established this annual program through the Class III gaming compact.
