Lacey Fire District 3The Lacey Fire District Three’s Board of Fire Commissioners is seeking District residents and property owners to participate on a newly formed Citizen Advisory Committee.  Lacey Fire District Three currently serves approximately 90,000 residents, over one third of Thurston County’s total population, from its five fire stations.

The District’s Board and staff have been working to maintain the necessary levels of service delivery in the midst of the recent severe economic downturn.  Most recently the District was awarded a federal grant under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program, which provided funding for two years to re-staff a station where budget shortfalls had forced the removal of career firefighters and emergency medical technicians in 2012. The station was reopened in June of this year and the Board and staff have now turned their attention to planning and developing service delivery models that will continue to meet the needs of their rapidly growing service area.

A brief video outlining the vision and purpose for the Citizen Advisory Committee along with an application to participate are available on the District’s website.

Applications will be accepted through September 30th.
