Visit with Rachel Bertsche,* author of “MWF Seeking BFF: My Yearlong Search for a New Best Friend,” a thought-provoking, hilarious memoir and an honest look at an adult trying to make new friends. The after-hours event will be held at the Olympia Timberland Library on Wednesday, February 1 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Books will be available for purchase.

When Bertsche first moved from New York to Chicago, she was thrilled to finally share a zip code with her boyfriend. But shortly after getting married, she realized that her new life was missing one thing―friends. Tired of waiting for her new best friend to come knocking on her door, Bertsche launched a year-long project: 52 girl-dates, one a week for twelve months, in search of her new best friend. “MWF” blends the stories of Bertsche’s adventures with the latest research about the science of friendship.

Bertsche is a journalist and editor in Chicago, where she lives with her husband. Her work has appeared in Marie Claire, More, Teen Vogue, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Fitness, Women’s Health, CNN.com, and others. Before leaving New York for the Midwest, Bertsche was an editor at O: The Oprah Magazine. Bertsche’s Web site is http://rachelbertsche.com.
