St. Marin’s University Head Chef, Kevin Gerlich, is truly an Olympia chef, having honed his craft at Dockside Bistro, Cicada Restaurant, Waterstreet Café, LoneStar Kitchen, Fall’s Terrace Restaurant, and The American Grill for the last ten years. Mexican cuisine is one of his favorites and when he visits BSC he’s planning a tamalada, literally, “a gathering of people, with the intention of making tamales.” in this hands-on class, he’ll take you step-by-step through he “how” and “why” of tamale dough (masa) and fillings. Accompanying sauces and sides will be discussed, and, you’ll get to take some tamales home as well.
