The River Ridge High School Drama Club recently completed its production of “Anne of Green Gables.” The production is based on the 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery and had showings during the week of December 6-9, 2023, at River Ridge High School. The production cast and crew comprised 44 students who took 8 weeks of practice and production to put on the show.

River Ridge theater instructor and director Joe Medina was happy with the production and impressed by his team’s work ethic. “We were all very proud of the production and I was impressed with many from the team stepping into positions when others got sick or had to leave the production,” Medina noted after the last show. “I think many students were able to relate to the protagonist in many ways. The need to have people in your life that you can depend on and will be there for you, even when you’re not at your best.”

Junior River Ridge student Mariya Terrien played the main role of Anne Shirley. She was joined with supporting roles by Junior Madilyn Ashley, who played Marilla Cuthbert, and sophomore Jack Selph who played Matthew Cuthbert.

All three North Thurston School Public Schools high schools have upcoming winter music concerts along with spring theater productions planned for the end of 2023 and 2024. For more information take a look at the NTPS Arts Calendar.
