Port of Olympia’s August 21 Movies at the Marina Bring You American Idol Finalist Wade COTA and Disney’s ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’

The Port of Olympia’s final free, family-friendly Movies at the Marina of the season takes place on Saturday, August 21, 2021. This event and will bring you the sounds of Thurston County native Jake Grantham, Kieran Lynch ft., Wade Cota, food trucks, a beer garden, and Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon. The event opens at 4 p.m.

Vendors

Nicole’s Bar will present The 21+ beer garden with all proceeds supporting the 4 the Love Foundation and the Olympia SHAG Senior Living Community. Food vendors Batdorf and Bronson, Kona Ice, Olympita, Uncle Pete’s Family BBQ, and The Washington Center for the Performing Arts will be onsite with food and beverages available for purchase. The beer garden and food vendors will be open from 4 p.m. until 30 minutes before that night’s movie begins.

Entertainment

Thurston County native and North Thurston High School graduate, Jake Grantham takes the stage with Kieran lynch and Wade Cota from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Grantham has teamed with Kieran Lynch to bring you music that is best described as soulful, rock, hop, and roll that crosses generational tastes of music. Their sound is a perfect complement to Wade Cota’s unique and appealing indie rock and future base style that earned him a top 5 finalist spot on American Idol’s 2019 season.

Movie

Thirty minutes after sunset get your popcorn ready and settle in to watch Disney’s 2021 animated film, “Raya and the Last Dragon” (PG). Travel, with Raya, to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together in harmony long ago. After an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned. It is up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon and restore the fractured land and divided people in order to save the world. Movie begins at 8:45 p.m.

Know-Before-You-Go

Admission is free and no RSVP is required. Bring your own chairs and blankets and dress warmly, despite the summer sun, as temperatures drop noticeably at dusk. The family-friendly evenings will take place at the lot next to the Swantown Marina Boat Launch Parking Lot located at the Port’s NorthPoint (next to Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill and KGY radio station).

We request that unvaccinated guests wear face coverings and maintain at least 6 feet of social distance while at the event.
