South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) announced today that Dr. Tysha K. Tolefree is joining the executive leadership team in the role of Vice President for Finance & Operations. In this role, Dr. Tolefree will be responsible for all aspects of finance, facilities, safety and security, and, along with the rest of the executive leadership team, will help guide the overall strategy and operational planning for the college.

“We are delighted to welcome Tysha to the Clipper Nation executive team,” said SPSCC president Dr. Timothy Stokes. “Her background in higher education finance coupled with her experience implementing new technologies will help us serve our community better.”

Dr. Tolefree has a proven record of overseeing development, implementation, and management of sound financial reporting, accounting procedures, risk management, and internal controls. She is a United States Air Force Veteran with both private sector finance and accounting experience and a combined 16 years of higher education experience as both an administrator and adjunct faculty member.

“I am excited to use my skills and experience to serve the students, faculty, and staff at SPSCC,” Tolefree said. “Shirley Chisholm once said, ‘Service is the rent you pay for room on this earth.’ This sentiment keeps me grounded and it is how I am approaching this opportunity – through an equity lens in service to SPSCC and our Thurston County community.”

Dr. Tolefree holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Walden University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Troy State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from Saint Leo University.
