Submitted by Providence

In order to protect the health of our communities, and as a safety precaution to prevent the risk of spreading COVID-19, Providence St. Peter and Providence Centralia hospitals are instituting additional visitor restrictions in accordance with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, some hospital access points will be consolidated at our hospital campus locations. These changes will take effect Saturday, March 14 at 8 p.m.

Providence understands the importance of patients having access to their loved ones while receiving care in the hospital. At this time, we ask patients and their families to consider communication through phone and video chat as their primary means of communication. If an in-person visit is necessary, the following restrictions will apply:

Outpatient clinics: Patients being seen in an outpatient clinic or setting may be accompanied by no more than one adult support person.

Inpatient units: To limit the spread of infectious illnesses, in-person visits will not be allowed. We know the value visitors bring to our patients. At this time, we encourage patients and their families to communicate through phone and video chat. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for the following:

  • Children admitted to the hospital
  • Maternity units
  • Patients receiving end-of-life/palliative care

For these very limited exceptions, one visitor per patient will be allowed and must be 18 years or older and be immediate family (or powers of attorney, guardians, or patient representative) and they will be asked to return home if they exhibit cold or flu-like symptoms, or have a fever.

Effective at 8 p.m., March 14:

  • Entrance points will be consolidated, and screening will be in place to ensure patients are masked if needed and that only appropriate visitors are coming in.
  • Open entry points:
    • Providence St. Peter Hospital:
      • Emergency Department entrance (all days, all times)
      • Main entrance (all days, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
      • Emilie Gamelin (Monday-Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
    • Providence Centralia Hospital:
      • Emergency Department entrance (all days, all times)

Providence continues to monitor the risk of COVID-19 closely and will make adjustments to visitor restrictions, as necessary. We appreciate your help in keeping our patients, visitors and caregivers safe.
