The Capital Lakefair Royalty Scholarship Program Coronation will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel.

The candidates will be judged on a 500 word essay, personality, appearance, speaking ability, poise, confidence, overall reaction to pressure, maturity and punctuality.  ‘The Capital Lakefair Royalty Program is a scholarship program that represents outstanding achievements and leadership of the young women in our community,” said Dennis Williams, Executive Director. The requirements of the scholarship program are: Fully enrolled Junior, 3.3 cumulative GPA, two letters of recommendation and be a student in Olympia, Lacey or Tumwater School Districts.

A Queen and court will be selected to represent Capital Lakefair at parades and events across the state. Each participant will receive a $500 scholarship. The five young women who are selected to serve on the 2017 Royalty Court will each will receive an additional $2,500 scholarship. The Queen will receive an additional $4,500 scholarship. Each scholarship recipient has five years in which to use their scholarship monies towards any type of higher education: traditional degree, trade school or vocational training program.

Since the early 1970’s, Capital Lakefair has awarded more than $375,000 in scholarships to more than 270 area young women to attend the college of their choice. The 2017 scholarships is sponsored by Olympia Federal Saving Bank. Jerry Famer of ROXY 94.5 fm will serve as Emcee and Joanne Krusz of the CPA firm Strader Hallett will officially tabulate the judge’s scores to select the 2017 Royalty Court.

The Capital Lakefair Scholarship Royalty Program Coronation will take place Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 7 pm at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia. The theme for 2017 is Putting on the Ritz.
