Thriftway offers an array of housewares for every need, taste, or season.

Mario Batali, legendary local chef, once said “the kitchen really is the castle itself. This is where we spend our happiest moments and where we find the joy of being a family.” The delicious current trend of food television and hands-on classes mean every home can celebrate food, friends, and family.

Running from April 26 through May 10, Ralph’s and Bayview Thriftway will hold their third annual Housewares Appreciation Event. Stormans General Merchandise, Housewares, and Gift Manager Amber Light describes it as “a great opportunity to showcase our amazing Housewares department and provide a kick back to our loyal customers.”

During the event, all houseware items marked with a blue price tag result in a 10% reward on your ThrifteCard. Light loves this event because “I pride myself on doing everything I can to obtain the items that our customers want, so if we don’t have it I strongly encourage customers to fill out a WANTCARD at the check stand or ask to talk with me if I am available. One of the greatest things about working in a retail environment is getting to know our customers.”

This is a great chance to explore a department you may not usually visit when picking up everyday groceries or attending one of their many exciting community events. Light recently attended a large buying event in March and expects her newly discovered treasures to arrive in plenty of time for the big event.

A few of these exciting tools include the CHEF’N Looseleaf, which loosens the woody ribs and stalks of leafy greens like kale, chard, and herbs and the GEFU Spirelli slicer, which turns any vegetable into a beautifully-cut, healthy noodle.

Keep up with sales and so much more on the store’s website www.OlyThriftway.com. There you can find recipes, online shopping, their weekly ad, and a calendar of events, classes, and activities held in or sponsored by their two Olympia locations.

If you have questions about the event or the housewares department overall, stop by and ask for Amber or give her a call at 360-596-0159. She’s always willing to discuss new culinary toys or tools to make the day-to-day grind easier.

Ralph’s Thriftway is located at 1908 East 4th and Bayview Thriftway is 516 West 4th, both in Olympia.
