It’s a Sunday morning and all is quiet at my house. One of my favorite past times is to enjoy a cup of tea while catching up on sites and articles that I enjoy. I like to sip my tea, read, and enjoy the peace and quiet before the crazy, hectic family life reaches it’s crescendo.
But, whether you find this post on Sunday morning or Tuesday afternoon, it really doesn’t matter. While a handful of ThurstonTalk articles are time sensitive, such as write-ups about upcoming events like the South Sound BBQ Festival, the majority of our content can be read today or in 3 months and still be relevant.
Enjoy my Editor Pick’s from this week, whether it’s with your morning cup of tea, an afternoon soda, or a glass of wine in the evening. Cheers!
New Hands On Children’s Museum Built With Help From Local Tradespeople
I have a special place in my heart for the Hands On Children’s Museum. And, it’s growing every day as the New Museum is built. It’s a privilege, really, to be able to tell the story about all the locally owned businesses that have stepped in to help build exhibits. These are businesses, owned by people that live, work and play in Olympia, that choose to donate their time and services to make our community a better place. Thank you!
Sweet Charley B’s Cupcakery – Delicious To The Last Crumb
While this article was first posted two months ago, it does have relevance to this week. Amanda Beers opened her cupcake store on Thursday to a rousing ovation. On opening day, Beers sold out early, handing over more than 2,000 cupcakes and managing a line out her door and around the corner. While the cupcakes are divine, people also come to give hugs and heartfelt support to Beers and her family. Swing by 111 Market Street, across from the Olympia Farmers Market, for a tasty treat.
Liga Azteca FSA Provides A Sunday Tradition At Pioneer Park
I had a chance to talk with our sports writer, Tom Rohrer, after he watched a Liga Azteca soccer match. A consummate sports viewer, Tom was still in awe of the competitiveness that these players portray when on the field. Even four days later, Tom was still shaking his head and saying, “I can’t believe how tough these guys are.”
And, as you prepare for the mid-week holiday, be sure to check out our events calendar and this great post about 4th of July festivities in our area.
