While many people today rely on online banking and remote access to manage their finances, Bank of the Pacific’s new Long Beach Branch Manager, Rick Abrego, knows there’s still strong demand for in-person support. With years of experience in banking and community engagement, Rick understands the value of providing personalized, face-to-face service from knowledgeable staff in a local branch setting.
The branch Abrego leads in Southwest Washington reflects that commitment to personal service. He’s proud to bring his expertise to the role, supporting both customers and team members while striking a thoughtful balance between advancing technology and preserving the personal relationships that matter in close-knit communities like Long Beach.
“I love helping people,” he says. “I found my niche in the banking industry. I like to help people get on their financial path to success.”

For Bank of the Pacific Branch Manager Rick Abrego, Long Beach’s Strong Community Feels Like Family
When speaking with Abrego, the words “community” and “family” come up often. He recalls feeling an immediate sense of ease during his interview for the branch manager role in Long Beach, a feeling that affirmed the strong community values at the heart of the position. “It was like walking into my parent’s home,” he says. “It’s just the people working here. We are family. It’s a unique feeling. It’s hard to explain. It’s just family.” He is a major fan of the many area gatherings and the dedicated support locals give each other. “I like the closeness, the way the community comes together, like at the Razor Clam Festival and the rodeo,” he says. “And when there’s a tragic situation, like the fires last year, the community also comes together.”
Abrego started as the Long Beach branch manager in February 2025. Abrego brought with him a long history in the Pacific Northwest banking industry that, combined with volunteerism, kept him deeply connected to the communities he serves. Abrego started his banking career in nearby Astoria. After holding various professional banking positions over the years, Abrego says that joining Bank of the Pacific’s Long Beach branch has happily reunited him with several former colleagues from his early days in the area. “That’s kind of cool,” he says.
Retail Banking Experience and a ‘Brick and Mortar’ Office Help Bank of the Pacific’s Customers Meet Today’s Challenges
While working at offices in Washington and Oregon for 16 years, Abrego says he’s learned how to recognize and apply his strengths in ways that support both customers and coworkers – something he brings to his role at Bank of the Pacific. “The biggest one I picked up on is my attention to detail, and listening to customers and staff,” he explains. “You have to be fair and transparent.”
That attentiveness is especially important when addressing today’s challenges facing customers, such as online phishing scams and other forms of fraud. Abrego explains that fraudsters often target elderly individuals, small businesses, and other vulnerable groups through tactics like account takeovers and gift card schemes. He has personally assisted customers who’ve fallen victim to these scams and now draws on that experience to help others better protect themselves. “From phishing emails to romance scams, we try to educate clients as best we can,” he explains.
That’s where a branch office in the community becomes a valuable resource – especially when paired with access to an experienced local banker. Customers can walk in and receive personal, face-to-face assistance, which can be especially reassuring for those without a computer or who aren’t technology savvy. “They need to have somebody they can talk to face to face,” he says. “With a ‘brick and mortar’ presence, people can come in and ask questions and get the help they need. They can talk to a live person.”
Bank of the Pacific Branch Manager Abrego’s Volunteer Work Supports Military Veterans and Local Organizations
Abrego played college baseball back in the day, but today he is a big golfer. He combines his golfing interest with activities assisting communities. Abrego is active with the national PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), providing free golf programming to military veterans. “PGA HOPE introduces golf to veterans and active duty military to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. The program introduces the game of golf through a developmental 6-8 week curriculum, led by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency.”
Abrego also donates time to coaching baseball and helping with the local Food4Kids Backpack Program. He’s also active with the Rotary Club of SW Pacific County Peninsula, Washington. Bank of the Pacific serves Western Washington and Northern Oregon. To learn more, visit their website.
