LACEY, WA, March 29, 2012: Join volunteers and staff from Lacey Parks & Recreation to
pull ivy and restore trails at Lake Lois Park. The “Earth Day” work party is scheduled for
Sunday, April 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The park is located at 6020 7th Ave SE, Lacey.
Volunteers may park at the rear of the Safeway store, 6200 Pacific Ave SE in Lacey, near the
loading dock.

Individuals, families, and groups are welcome (volunteers under the age of 14 must be
accompanied by an adult). To encourage teen participation, Alpine Experience, an outdoor
equipment store located in dowtown Olympia, has challenged each high school in Thurston
County. The high school with the most volunteers will earn $500 for their Associated Student
Body (ASB). Additionally, each student that registers by April 16, 2012, and volunteers on
Earth Day will receive a free t-shirt at the event!

All volunteers should bring a water bottle and wear weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, work gloves, sturdy shoes or boots, and rain gear if necessary. Bring rakes and pruning tools too—if
available.

Please visit the City of Lacey website at www.ci.lacey.wa.us/parks-volunteer to access the Earth Day 2012 High School Challenge Registration Form for groups, and the Waiver Form for
individuals. For additional information, please call the Lacey Parks and Recreation Department at (360) 491-0857.
