Evaluate Current, Future Workforce Needs Now!

The Thurston County Chamber is a partner in Heroes at Home 2, an initiative to train and place 825 military spouses in Thurston and Pierce counties.

Chamber workforce development staff is currently meeting with employers to discuss both current job opportunities and future workforce needs. The Chamber wants to ensure training funds are used effectively and need your guidance.

Businesses interested in discussing workforce needs, and potentially hiring military spouses from the program, can contact Stephanie Scott at 360.357.3362 or sscott@ThurstonChamber.com.

Resources include funds for training, certification, and on-the-job training for qualified military spouses.

Heroes at Home 2 is the result of a $4.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. It was awarded to the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council and Workforce Central in partnership with Washington State Employment Security Department, Thurston County Economic Development Council and the City of Lakewood.

It was awarded due to the Base Realignment and Closure Action of 2005 and subsequent relocation of military personnel and families to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The Thurston County Chamber is an equal opportunity employer and provider of employment and training services.  Auxiliary aids and services may be available upon request to persons with disabilities.  Funds made available through the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council and Consortium.
