The “Heritage Builders” history program of the Olympia Tumwater Foundation once again offers free guided tours of the 1904 Schmidt House in Tumwater. These 1.5 hour tours are led by Bob Crim, who for 60 years has been the caretaker of the house and grounds. His stories captivate visitors through the three top levels of the house, the treasures of the basement archives, and special surprises at the end that the general public doesn’t get to see.
The regular tour schedule includes the public tours on the second Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. and special group tours available by appointment. The tours are limited to 15-20 people and requires the ability to negotiate stairways. Donations are gratefully accepted to help keep this popular program going. Doors open at 10:45. Please call ahead (360) 786-8117 or email: email@example.com to reserve a spot or to set up a special group tour.
