Stay Home Stay Safe
April 22, 1970 marked the first Earth Day. Millions of concerned Americans came together to rally for a healthy sustainable environment, and to push environmental protection onto the national political agenda. Fifty years later, we are still going strong! Locally, throughout Thurston County, Stream Team works to help residents prevent storm water pollution and take actions to protect local water, air, others and ourselves.
Today, people around the world are coming together to protect each other in a time of global pandemic. This demonstration of care for our community proves we can unite and make necessary changes to promote the security and well being of all people and the planet we depend on. This is our opportunity to make a difference!
In a time when social gatherings are not safe for our well being, we call on our resiliency and creativity to celebrate together virtually! We invite you to celebrate Earth Day’s 50th anniversary with us on Stream Team’s Facebook page and win a limited edition, commemorative anniversary tote bag!
Here’s how you can celebrate with us:
Post a photo of your artwork (or your child’s artwork) that shows how we can protect or appreciate local streams, lakes and Puget Sound and tag ThurstonStreamTeam. We will share tagged photos on our Facebook page and enter you into the drawing to win one of our anniversary tote bags!
If drawing or painting isn’t your forte, post an original photo that you’ve taken of a local stream, lake or Puget Sound.
Remember to post your artwork or photo by April 22nd (Earth Day) and thank you for sharing your ideas to help inspire others!
