Thurston Community Media (TCMedia) announces a new podcast highlighting nonprofit organizations across the Thurston County area. The Mission Nonprofit television program has been airing on TCMedia’s community access channel for over 25 years but just recently became a podcast in an effort to increase community accessibility.
“We started producing Mission Nonprofit in the mid 90’s. As a nonprofit, we understand how important nonprofit organizations are to our community,” says Deborah Vinsel, CEO. “There are hundreds in the greater Thurston County area so we’ve had a lot of great stories to tell over the years.”
“Having the ability to listen to the program in your car during a commute, or with headphones on a walk or a jog increases your options. We are so excited to continue celebrating and supporting the great nonprofits that make up our community,” says Robert Kam, TCMedia Producer.
Each month, TCMedia connects with local organizations and agencies affecting positive change in the community. The most recent episodes highlight nonprofits dedicated to youth and theater arts. South Sound Dance Access, a brand new nonprofit offering creative movement and other dance opportunities to youth in Thurston County; Brenrose Foundation, an organization that helps youth and young adults prepare for adulthood as they age out of the foster system; and Theater Artists Olympia, a local theatrical production company and owners of Oly Theater, that has been performing shows in the area for 20 years.
In May, the Mission Nonprofit podcast will feature Olympia Firefighters Foundation, an organization that supports victims of fire and other natural disasters and supports students in need with a community pantry, school supplies, and hygiene supplies.
