Submitted by Thurston County Auditor

Thurston County Auditor Mary Hall is notifying residents about a letter incorrectly generated on August 4 by the Washington State Department of Licensing notifying vehicle owners that their personalized plates will be cancelled.

Thousands of vehicle owners across the state are receiving these letters. These letters concern personalized plates that had been transferred to another vehicle. Vehicle owners should ignore this letter if it is dated August 4, 2021.

“I was among the Thurston County residents that received this kind of letter from the state, and I was surprised. I knew I transferred them correctly,” Auditor Hall said. “We have heard from the Department of Licensing that they are investigating what went wrong, so they can avoid this type of error in the future.” Anyone with questions regarding their personalized plates can call 360.902.3770.
