Summer 2013 marks the tenth season the City of Lacey will host a community open-air market at Huntamer Park. This summer, the Lacey Community Market will be held the second Saturday of the month—July 13, August 10, and September 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Lacey Community Market offers an array of market items including seasonal produce and fresh-cut flowers, breads, honey, and locally-made and harvested foods. You will also find crafts, hand-made jewelry, furniture, antiques, collectibles, forgotten treasures, refreshments and local cuisine (i.e., barbeque, ethnic foods, and many other delicious treats). Over 70 vendors are expected to line the streets for a distinct shopping experience.
“Home and Garden Day”— with a wide variety of home and garden vendors and live music— kicks off the market season on July 13. Enjoy home and garden speakers and demonstrations on the hour, every hour, including:
- Composting Basics – New Tips and Tricks
- Tool Time – Do Your Tools Work For You
- Edible Garden – Grow Your Own Groceries
- Fabulous Foliage – Flowers Aren’t Everything
- Backyard Poultry – The Nitty-Gritty of Raising Chickens at Home
- Old to New – Repurposing Home Decor with Chalk Paint
Enjoy the sounds of 7 on 7, a jump swing band, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
On August 10, come to the market for “Heritage Day” and celebrate the diverse cultural traditions of our community. You won’t want to miss performances by Correo Aereo and Hot Club Sandwich. Plus, a stay for an exciting breakdance battle.
Wrap up the 2013 season on September 14 “Pet Day” with activities, demonstrations, vendors, and services tailored to people and pets. Visitors to the market will enjoy country blues and folk music by The Wildcat Riders and Cricket on the Hearth—with low-cost pet microchip services and a pet look-alike contest.
