Public Forum With Thurston County Assessor

Thurston County Assessor to hold public forum in Yelm

Each year the Assessor is required, by law, to inspect one sixth of all
properties county wide. This year properties throughout Yelm and surrounding
areas will be physically inspected and some have expressed concern with regard
to this process. For instance, the Yelm area is home to many private
underground structures which by their nature, require actual entry in order to
verify their square footage. The Assessor and staff are committed to performing
their duties in the least obtrusive manner possible and to interacting with all
residents with the upmost respect.

Assessor Steven Drew said “I think this forum is a good opportunity to
dialogue with the public about the inspection process and about how property
taxes are determined.”

The public forum will be held July 9th, 2013 from 5:30 to 6:30pm in the
Training Room of the Yelm Public Safety Building, 206 McKenzie St SE.
