The Spirit of Ryokan An evening lecture

Olympia Zen Center welcomes Rev. Gyokei Yokoyama for this Soto Zen study event over two days. Rev. Gyokei has chosen to focus on the revered ancestor of our temple, poet and mendicant monk Ryokan. Ryokan was a quiet and unconventional Soto Zen Buddhist monk who lived much of his life as a hermit. Ryokan is remembered for his poetry and calligraphy, which present the essence of Zen life.
