A group of local stakeholders completed draft ordinance language that would eliminate plastic carryout bags and place a fee on paper bags. The draft has been provided to all jurisdictions in Thurston County for their consideration. Read the official news release here.
Each local government will determine if it wants to proceed with the adoption process, which would require a public hearing.
To date, the Tumwater City Council and the Thurston County Board of Commissioners (for the unincorporated areas of the county) have scheduled hearings.
