Did you know that all the plastic ever made is still on this planet!? Plastic photodegrades, which means it breaks down into smaller pieces, called microplastics. Our ocean is now full of all kinds and sizes of plastic, but its the microplastics that get mistaken by marine animals to be food. It is estimated that by 2050 there may be more plastics in the ocean than fish by weight. In this evenings presentation you’ll learn some facts about plastic, how it impacts our environment and how Surfrider is using the Ocean Friendly Restaurants program locally to combat the single-use plastic pollution problem.
