The Olympia Marketing Company (OMC) will host its second in a series of marketing clinics for small businesses on October 9 from 8-10 a.m. at The Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St NW. The workshop focuses on beacons—small, inexpensive electronic gadgets that transmit targeted messages to nearby mobile devices.
“If you’ve ever walked into your favorite retail store and gotten a mobile notification from that store, you’ve probably experienced beacon marketing,” Said Ryan Rutledge, OMC’s owner. He explained that although beacon marketing started with retail stores, its applications aren’t limited to shops.
OMC’s Marketing Clinics are a free series designed to demystify complex marketing technologies and make them more accessible. The clinics take place Tuesday mornings from 8-10 a.m. Future topics include geofencing (October 16) and push notifications (October 23). Companies and organizations can register for the clinics at the Olympia Marketing Company website.
