Tom Rainey, Emeritus Faculty at The Evergreen State College will explore the substance and consequences of Vladimir Putin’s imperial dreams, especially with respect to the Ukrainian War. He will give special consideration to Putin’s imperial ambitions, justifying ideology, and the status and possible outcomes of the war. Also, he will describe and comment on Yevgeny Prigozhin’s challenge to Putin and the Russian leader’s survivability, and the impact of the war on Russia and the Western Alliance. Are we seeing the beginnigng of a succession struggle in Russia?
