The ongoing Israel-Gaza war has spilled over into the escalation of violence on multiple fronts across the Middle East. The U.S. has expanded its bombing campaign against Houthis in Yemen who have attacked ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. But Yemen is just one of the Middle East flashpoints raising concerns about a wider conflict in the region spreading from the Israel-Gaza war. Fighting between Israel and Hezbollah at the Israel-Lebanon border is also ramping up and could lead to a major new war. Meanwhile, violence has spilled over into Iraq, Iran, and Syria, often targeting U.S. military forces in the region. There is growing fear of a wider war across the Middle East, but the truth is that a low-level war is already here.  Steve Niva will go over each of these flashpoints across the region and assess the prospects for escalation, paying particular attention to U.S. policy aims and the constitutionality of U.S. military operations.
