Robin Jacobson, UPS Associate Professor of Politics will discuss “The Polarized Politics of Immigration Reform”

Once again, Immigration is at the forefront of contentious political debates in the United States. There has been dramatic media coverage of executive orders, immigration enforcement, and high level meetings around various aspects of immigration policy. While the issues and the challenges around immigration are not new, our current political landscape is quite different. How much change have we actually seen in our immigration policy with the new administration? And how does polarization of politicians and the media affect the possibilities for addressing the significant and sustained questions about immigration? Despite what we might think, this might be the best chance for immigration reform we have seen in decades.
