On Wednesday, December 15th, a three-alarm commercial structure fire ravaged a city block in downtown Olympia on Capitol Way. The fire engulfed the Market Flats apartments that were still under construction early Wednesday morning. The resulting blaze damaged approximately four buildings and about a dozen businesses. After the fire destroyed their upstairs apartment, a father and his two children were displaced. The father and his son were able to escape without harm, and luckily his daughter was not home at the time. Over a dozen small local businesses lost everything due to the blaze and water damage from putting out the fire. Many, if not all, of those businesses, are still struggling to regain footing.
This auction aims to raise funds to help with relief efforts for the businesses and families affected by the devastating fire. Funds will be appropriated and distributed according to individual needs. Thank you to everyone that contributed items, experiences, and services to make this happen! We will rebuild our FamOly stronger and more unified.
