Uyen (Wendy) Nicole Duong, author of a trilogy of novels depicting the Vietnamese-American resettlement experience through the voices of women, will speak on two of her award-winning titles, “Postcards from Nam” and “Mimi and Her Mirror” (The other title in the trilogy is “Daughters of the River Huong.”) The author will compare her literary perspective with her actual experience.

A Fulbright Scholar with recent appointments to Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, Ms. Duong will speak primarily about “Postcards from Nam,” a novella set in the late 1980s and 1990s), and compare it to the Vietnam of today. “Mimi and Her Mirror” is an epic novel about the fall of Saigon. “Daughters of the River Huong,” which Duong discussed at a previous talk, follows four generations of women, spanning Vietnam’s history from just prior to the French colonization in the mid-19th century through the 1990s.
