The Kanaka Legacy, The Forgotten Hawaiians

The event features special guest musicians Charles Brotman and Charlie Recaido, from Waimea, Hawaii, of the grammy award winning band “Kohala”. The night is a celebration of the historical tracing migration of the earliest Kanaka to Pacific Northwest from 1800’s to present day. A “Kanaka” is a native of Hawaii. The Kanaka Legacy was created to honor Hawaiian-Indian ancestry. The event will be led by Gloria Nahalea, married to a native Hawaiian, Bill Nahalea as well as the Food and Beverage Manager at The Lanai Cafe.

The evening of entertainment begins at 6:30 PM with a meet and greet and the show will begin at 7:00 PM. Enjoy Hula, Music and a film preview of “The Kanaka Legacy”. Pupu’s or food from the islands, will be served as we celebrate the legacy of the Hawaiians here in the Pacific Northwest and learn more about the ‘Forgotten Hawaiians’. A typical pupu platter includes, lomi lomi salmon, kalua pork sliders, and yummy grindz.

Reservation is required. The fee to attend this event is $18 and includes a hula performance, musical performances, stories of the Hawaiian migration through a video titled “The Kanaka Legacy” and pupu.
