Genius comic book artist/writer Jim Woodring is gracing Olympia with his presence, and we are all sure to be the better for it! Woodring has received the Eisner, Harvey, and Inkpot Awards, among others, and in 2010 was the recipient of The Stranger’s Genius Of Literature Award. Jim will be appearing at Danger Room (201 W 4th Ave, downtown Olympia) during the afternoon, where he’ll be interviewed (starting at 3 pm) and will then sign copies of his books and chat with fans. This portion will run from 3-5 pm.
That evening, join us at the library (313 8th Ave SE, downtown Olympia) for a live drawing demonstration by Jim with his invention Nibbus Maximus (a giant, 7′ long ink-nib pen) that is sure to blow minds and inspire even the most humdrum among us. This will be followed by a q&a session. Copies of his books will be available for purchase and to get signed. The library event will run from 7-8:30 pm.
Woodring’s comics work includes the haunting and surreal works The Frank Book, Congress Of The Animals, Weathercraft, and his most recent, Fran. Art books of his work include Seeing Things and Problematic. He also had acclaimed runs as writer on Dark Horse’s Aliens and Jabba The Hutt comics series.
