“Be prepared” is not only a wise motto for scouting.
It begins with our mental and emotional preparedness to deal with the unexpected. Then, in those moments we actually have the need for first aid supplies, we want them available for immediate use—the essence of “first aid.” In this class, learn how to select from among the hundreds of choices as to what plant and natural medicines are most useful to have on hand for first-aid emergencies—at home or in the field—and how to use them. Carol will demonstrate a larger kit for home or car, as well as small kit for backpacking or hiking. Cost of the class includes a detailed booklet on creating and using your first aid kit that can be stashed with it for ready guidance when needed.

Please note that this is not a Red Cross-style first aid class. We will be learning about how plant remedies can aid with emotional and physical trauma, bites, cuts, scrapes, burns, rashes, muscle cramps, sprains, pain, eye and bone trauma, infection, bleeding, inflammation, and more.

Instructor: Carol Trasatto, herbalist. Carol has been practicing the plant arts for almost 35 years. She is the Herb Team lead buyer and trainer at Radiance Herbs & Massage, where she has served the community since 1992. Carol maintained a holistic wellness counseling practice for 20 years; she writes articles and presents a talk with astrologer Rosie Finn for the monthly Plants & Planets.

Cost: $40, includes detailed herbal first aid booklet.
