Local Olympia-area music phenomenon Hellbelly will host a show and CD release party for their new album Life of the Party (released on Olympia’s own Vital Records label) on Saturday, 23 November 2013, at McCoy’s Tavern (418 4th Avenue, Olympia, WA) at 9:00pm.

“Not the type of outfit to waste their fans time with long narratives about where they have performed, or what big time opinion lends validation to their existence,” songwriting monster Hellbelly will headline with two more Northwest bands, the all female rock group Full Moon Radio, recently named “Best New Band” and “Best Indie Rock Band” in the Weekly Volcano’s 2013 Best of Olympia issue, and music veterans The Hard Way, who since 2007 have been throwing down unstoppable powerpop tunes that really stick in your head.

The party also celebrates the full launch of Olympia’s newest record label, Vital Records. Formed in order to support the always vital Olympia and Northwest music scene, which saw the birth of grunge and local Olympia-area legends like Beat Happening, Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, founder Jim Porter aims for Vital Records to bring an “artist-centered” approach to music production and distribution that will get more of the ground-breaking Northwest talent into the public eye and ear. “Olympia is poised once again to become a focal point for the music industry,” Porter says, “and we want Vital Records there on the crest of that wave. This CD release party and show is going to mark a turning point. Remember when you saw Primus at a tiny venue in San Francisco or the Melvins in downtown Olympia before they were big. Tonight’s party is that same kind of opportunity.”

$3 gets you in the door. Free pizza and door prizes will be available as well.
