Have you noticed a dramatic uptick in raising backyard chickens or neighbors planting kitchen gardens? How about a friend learning to keep bees or forage? You may be interested in these activities yourself. Humanity has seen back-to-the-land movements pop up throughout history, but why?

The panel will discuss whether the “back-to-the-land” resurgence is motivated by a critique of rampant consumerism, a desire to reconnect with the natural environment, or inspired by romantic sentiment? Registration is required and space is limited.

Join panelists: Cori Carlton, Thurston County Master Gardeners and Master Recycler Composter Program Manager; Blue Peetz, GRUB co-founder, Olympia School District Educator; Ruth Apter, South Sound Mushroom Club; Jason Callison & Kat Tsoukalas, The Healing Farm.
