When he was a boy, Tony Angell hung a homemade owl nest box in his woodsy backyard. That act changed his life forever. For the next 25 years, he and his family shared their yard with western screech owls as they took up residence in the box, incubated eggs and raised their young.
Now a nationally respected wildlife artist, naturalist and author, Angell will talk about owls and about his new book, “The House of Owls,” at the Olympia Timberland Library, Saturday, November 21 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
In his book, Angell reveals why owls have captivated the human imagination throughout history. He details the extraordinary qualities and habits of various types of owls. The book is gorgeously illustrated with drawings of all North American owl species.
Angell, who lives in Lake Forest Park just north of Seattle, is the creator of “Otters,” a sculpture that graces the atrium of the Olympia Timberland Library.
All Timberland Regional Library programs are free and open to the public.
