The Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum is sponsoring the Holiday Tour of Homes featuring nine historic properties including the Bigelow House at 918 Glass Avenue NE, where tickets will be available the day of the tour.
This year’s tour features several properties on the east side of Olympia including some of the city’s most important high style Victorian era houses from the 1880s and 1890s. The tour also includes several properties built just after the turn of the 20th century including the Woman’s Club at 1002 S. Washington where tickets and refreshments will be available the day of the tour. One of the most notable is the Victor and Lena Meyer House on East Bay Drive built ca. 1910 of artistic concrete block. Featured at the Bigelow House this year will be newly restored rooms as well as a special holiday tree with decorations created by children at the Hands on Children’s Museum. Notably all of the properties on the tour are listed on historic registers. See http://olympiahistory.org/2016-holiday-tour-of-homes/ for additional details about the homes.
Tour tickets are $20.00 per person and are available in advance at Drees at 524 Washington St. SE; Olympia Federal Savings at 421 Capitol Way S., Olympia Federal Savings Lacey, 4310 6th Avenue SE and Thompson Furniture at 5407 Capitol Boulevard as well as online at olympiahistory.org. Day of Tour tickets will be available at both the Bigelow House and Woman’s Club of Olympia. Sponsors of the event are Olympia Federal Savings, Paul Battan, Attorney at Law, Swalling Walk Architects and Drees.
